Week 48: Two concerts and a mid-term evaluation

Av Mari Lorenzten

Good morning Oslo! It is going to rain for another week. If you are tired of galleries and exhibitions (and the rains of course) like me, take a look at Kunstguide of Week 48. There are two concerts and a mid-term evaluation of an artistic research project. I hope you will enjoy them.

HENIE ONSTAD KUNSTSENTER: Electric Edge

On the first weekend of December, EAU and Audiorama together with Høvikodden will produce and perform two concerts in the Nordic PULS project, the goal of which is to profile musical experiences of high artistic quality to a wider Nordic audience. The concerts showcase works from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. In the concert, you can experience an exciting program of live electronics, real-time video, performance, and a unique 3D sound experience played over a 26-speaker setup, which is custom-designed for Henie Onstad Kunstsenter.

MUNCH: RASMUSSEN by MOOR MOTHER + METTE

03.12.2022 from 21:00, MUNCH will present a concert by Moor Mother in collaboration with the Øya Festival. Moor Mother, the American composer, vocalist, poet, and educator, aka LA-based Camae Ayewa is described as “the poet laureate of the apocalypse” by Pitchfork. For the past few years her densely layered ‘Black Quantum Futurism’ – a blend of jazz, blues, soul, hip hop, and other black classical traditions – has acted as a tool to transform knowledge and consciousness. She will bring her musical philosophy to MUNCH in the concert, along with a special guest appearance by Danish free jazz performer Mette Rasmussen.

ROM FOR KUNST OG ARKITEKTUR: Mid-term evaluation: Sigrid Espelien

Thursday 1 December, Sigrid Espelien, a Ph.D. fellow at the Art and Craft Department of Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo, will be presenting the mid-term evaluation of her artistic research project "Grounding with (blue) clay". In the project, she experiments with ways of working with clay in the landscape and with the landscape in clay, where she sees clay not only as a material resource for ceramic art, but also clay as soil, landscape, and land. With different artistic methods, she "reads" clay through the body, through the place where the clay is found, and through technology.
