Uke 42: Turning dreams into tangible reality

Av Mari Lorentzen

Buer Gallery

Laissez – Faire / 5.10 – 29.10

Turid Mathiesen Kvålsvoll

Kvålsvoll’s works are dreamy and realistic at the same time. They are painted with vibrating colours and inspired by Baroque classics. This can be seen in colourful paintbrushes on the canvases, giving a very dramatic but interesting effect. Some recurring elements, like an exit sign or a Kiwi bag, are visible throughout the different paintings giving a playful twist to your visit.

Fringes of Reflection / 12.10 - 4.11

Kristian Touborg

This new exhibition called ‘Fringes of Reflection’ opened last week and contributes interesting artwork by the Danish artist Touborg. The paintings have all a dreamy and surreal look but can in some way be reminded of Dixit cards. However, the artist uses new and enriching technologies, such as polyester fabrics giving an extra dimension to the paintings. These canvases are attached to wood. Worth a visit!

Nasjonalmuseet

Mitt liv! Mitt valg? / 13.10 - 31.03.2024

Erik Werenskiolds, Lydia Opøien Figenschou og Gelawesh Waledkhani

A freshly opened exhibition at the National Museum on Werenskiold's drawings for an 1840s Norwegian novel. Throughout his illustrations, he addresses themes such as freedom, family bonds and women’s fates. These themes can somehow be related to the contemporary artworks of Opøien Figenschou and Waledkhani, both immediate and feministic artists. The Kurdish background of Waledkhani makes her art very realistic, almost tangible. Only recommend stopping by this exhibition while visiting the museum, because it’s rather small.
