Av Mari Lorenzten

At the beginning of this exciting week, I present you two exhibitions one artist talk, and one event you should not miss: Paragone’s release party of our latest issue - TEKSTIL!

QB GALLERY — Floating in Front of Backwards by Love Terins
23.03 — 30.04.2023

Love Terins holds a degree from the National Academy of the Arts in Oslo and Österlenskolan for Konst och Design in Simrishamn. In Terin's paintings, movement, repetition, and contrasts are explored. Terins sees her paintings as portals into a universe where patterns, shapes, and contrasts are transformed by each other. The various pictorial elements are often inspired by textiles and painterly expressions and give the impression of optical illusions of space and movement.

The show On the Whispering Wind, consisting of a new body of photographic work, continues this exploration, highlighting the complex relationship between facts, coincidence, and interpretation.

LNM — Painters in dialogue: Installing painting with Kenneth Varpe and Apichaya Wanthiang
24th April 2023, 17.30–19.00

“Painters in Dialogue” invites two artists working with painting to each show one artwork. These works are the starting point for open conversation between the artists and attendees. This session brings together Kenneth Varpe and Apichaya Wanthiang. The evening’s discussion of approaches to installing paintings will explore differences and overlaps in the artists’ thinking and processes, asking questions such as what caused these artists to take their paintings beyond the wall. And, how do they go about making an installation of/for paintings?
